Converting old factory spaces into houses was very popular in the 1980s as there was a large supply of empty industrial units that were initially very cheap to buy.

However, as with anything, the popularity of these buildings pushed prices up to the point where it was hard for people with lower budgets to find places like these to live in. The industrial aesthetic or loft style is still very popular though and more and more people are using the ideas and creating spaces in their own homes using similar materials, raw and unadorned, to very good effect.

We have put together a small collection of images that show some excellent examples of the loft style for your inspiration and hope that you find them useful.
