How are SIPs Sustainable and Green?
The Kingspan TEK System is sustainable
Highly energy efficient.
U-value range between 0.10 W/m²·K and 0.23 W/m²·K.
as low as 0.08 air changes per hour at normal air pressures or 0.91 air changes per hour at 50 Pa (approximately 1 m³/hour/m² at 50 Pa).
Low site wastage
as schemes are designed, cut and palletised in the factory meaning no excess building materials are delivered to site.
One source procurement
All the components for a typical Kingspan TEK registered Building System scheme e.g. panels and ancillaries, come from one source, therefore there are fewer deliveries compared to more traditional construction methods where components can often be sourced from and delivered by a number of different distributors or manufacturers. The overall result is less transport, which reduces the project’s impact on the environment.
CFC/HCFC-free with zero Ozone Depletion Potential.
Low GWP (Global Warming Potential).
The Kingspan TEK System is green
The OSB 3 boards are autohesively bonded to the rigid urethane insulation core of the Kingspan TEK Structural Insulated Panels during manufacture, therefore eliminating the need for potentially environmentally harmful adhesives.
The computerised design and preparation of the Structural Insulated Panels ensures minimal material waste thus further protecting natural resources.
Very little waste is generated on site in erecting a Kingspan TEK System building because all materials are brought to site pre-engineered.
Kingspan TEK Structural Insulated Panels are produced in a continuous zero Ozone Depletion Potential (CFC/HCFC-free) process.
The energy which has been used in manufacturing the Kingspan TEK Structural Insulated Panels (embodied energy) can be saved in a finished house in about 1 year.
The eco-balance of the Kingspan TEK Building System is extremely positive.
