Industrial design is a style that has become very popular recently where ideas normally found in loft apartments make their way to our homes. The use of exposed concrete, brick reclaimed timber and heavy metal objects and furniture combine with soft materials to create very interesting interiors.

The result is often called a “warehouse look” that puts together a true industrial style with a range of other influences, from the rustic to the glossy. In fact, many are incorporating industrial style into their homes through features such as stainless steel surfaces, metal light fixtures and vintage furniture.

In industrial design, the use of exposed pipes for both functional as well as decorative purposes, large steel beams, exposed trussed ceilings and concrete walls are popular but are softened with the use of timber floors and tables, rugs and vintage leather chairs and sofas.
