Spring will be with us soon and this is the time of the year when you need to tackle some tasks, some cleaning and organising. You can make a list and start working on it to prepare your home for spring. Here are some tips that we hope you find useful to guide you on how to make a start:
1. Let The Light In
During the winter season most of us keep our windows and shutters closed and most of the time they are also covered with curtains. But now it is the time to open them up a bit during the day to let the sun in. It is also a good idea to give the windows a good clean before spring arrives.
2. Clean Up Your Garage
You might have filled your garage with a load of things that you didn’t want to keep outside in cold. With the weather warming, it is a good idea to start putting them back out in their positions outside. This is then a great opportunity to also clean up the garage and get rid of any extra stuff that you don’t need anymore.
3. Organise Your Pantry
While you clean all areas of your home don’t forget to take a look at your pantry. Bring order to all the stuff inside your pantry and toss away any products that might have expired.
4. Change The Bedding to Lighter Colours
During winter we prefer colours that are dark and warm. Spring is a great time to switch to lighter tones of bedding.
5. Bring in Some Houseplants
With the arrival of spring life will start all over again in your garden. Trees will spring blossom and new leaves and everything will become green again. So, why not include some greenery inside your home to celebrate the spring?
6. Change The Scents
While winter was all about coffee, stews and spicy scents, spring is about floral and fruity scents. So, put some lavender and melon scented candles or a potpourri of rose petals, citrus fruits and leaves.
7. Add Colourful Accents
Colourful accents can bring cheer to your home. So, introduce colour to your home with small details such as vases, throw pillows, rugs or wall art.
8. Give a Makeover to Your Outdoor Space
Your garden and patio will be alive once again as soon as spring arrives. So, it is high time to have a think about revamping the outdoor area. Paint the furniture, install outdoor lighting and get the patio ready for spring.
9. Test and Clean The Ceiling Fans
It is quite annoying when you need to switch on the fan on the first warm day of spring after a long break and it gives you a surprise of not working. So, to avoid that chaos, test and clean all the fans in your home in advance to avoid any trouble.
10. Clean The Gutters and Downspouts
Get outside and look at getting rid of any debris inside gutters and down pipes that might have dropped in there during winter. This will save you from trouble during those sudden spring downpours.
